Bulu Box was created in 2011 and launched in 2012 by Paul Jarrett and his wife, Stephanie. After working in a key marketing role for a nutrition company, Jarrett wanted to create his own nutritional business. He knew firsthand the value of nutrition. He was previously overweight, weighing in at more than 300 pounds at one time. His personal weight loss journey thus became the impetus to create Bulu Box, a service to help others on the same journey to wellness and well-being. While there were other subscription boxes out at the time in the makeup category, Bulu Box was the first noncosmetics subscription box service. The company has done so well for itself in building this model of business that it is now building similar subscription box programs for other companies as well.
