About Backcountry
Backcountry rewards outdoor enthusiasts with a Summit Club+ membership that delivers 10% cash back on every purchase plus free 2-day shipping on orders above $150 — all for $49 annually. First-time shoppers receive 15% off their initial full-price order through email signup. Current seasonal promotions slash prices up to 70% across climbing, camping, and snow categories from brands like Patagonia and The North Face. Students and military personnel qualify for 20% off through quick verification, while free standard shipping applies to orders over $69.
College and graduate students unlock 20% off full-price gear through Student Beans verification. This ongoing discount applies throughout your enrollment period to most outdoor equipment, though it excludes sale items and cannot combine with sitewide promotions. Verification takes minutes and opens access to substantial savings on technical apparel and adventure equipment.

Backcountry — frequently asked
Does Backcountry offer promo codes for first-time customers?
First-time customers receive 15% off full-price merchandise through email list signup. This welcome offer excludes sale items, bikes, GPS units, and manufacturer-restricted products, with a limit of three units per style.
How much does Summit Club+ membership cost?
Summit Club+ runs $49 annually plus tax with automatic renewal. Members earn 10% cash back on all purchases, receive free 2-day shipping on orders over $150, and gain access to a dedicated Gearhead advisor for personalized recommendations.
What's the free shipping threshold at Backcountry?
Standard shipping becomes free at $69. Summit Club+ members qualify for complimentary 2-day shipping on orders exceeding $150. Oversized products including bikes and kayaks fall outside free shipping eligibility.
Can students get a discount at Backcountry?
Current college and graduate students save 20% on full-price Backcountry, Basin + Range, and Stoic merchandise. Student Beans verification activates this discount for ongoing use throughout enrollment.
Does Backcountry have a military discount?
Military members, healthcare workers, first responders, educators, and government employees receive 20% off eligible full-price products. ID.me verification confirms eligibility for this professional discount program.
How long do I have to return items to Backcountry?
Unused gear with original packaging and tags qualifies for full refunds within 90 days. Used but undamaged items return for store credit within 30 days, provided packaging and tags remain intact.
Can I stack multiple promo codes at Backcountry?
Multiple promo codes cannot combine at checkout. The system applies only the most recently entered code, so select whichever offer provides the greatest discount on your order.
How does Summit Club+ cash back work?
Members earn 10% back calculated on the merchandise subtotal of qualifying purchases. This cash back posts to your account balance for redemption on future orders and stacks with sale prices and promotional codes.
What items are excluded from Backcountry promo codes?
Standard exclusions include sale merchandise, bikes and frames, digital cameras, GPS devices, personal locator beacons, strollers, ski equipment, airbag packs, fishing gear, and watercraft. Review individual offer terms for specific restrictions.
Does Backcountry price match other retailers?
Backcountry maintains a price matching policy accessible through their Help Center. Contact customer service to submit a price match request and learn which competing retailers qualify for comparison.
